Breakin Even

Breakin Even was originally set up as a club night in March 2001 by a trio of Promoters from Reading, UK. After a successful 1st year at Club Bay in Reading the boys then turned their attention to the production side of things and created the live act ‘Breakin Even Collective’, after some big gigs at The Big Chill, Beautiful Daze, Cargo and Neighborhood the night grew from strength to strength and just 1 year after starting the night they had moved to a 700 capacity club and were playing alongside the likes of Soul of man, B.L.I.M, Phil Hartnoll, Dreadzone, Dub Pistols, Lee Combes, Evil Nine and The Freestylers.

Re:Connect Records was originally set up to showcase the tougher side of "big system" breaks, an offshoot to the hugely successful En:Vision Recordings, and championing this sound through building up the roster, and putting out releases from SFX Beats, High Eight, Transformer Man, and Merka. In the five years the label has been around the sound has evolved, but the ethos of the label has remained intact - keeping the quality high and offering something a little different to the rest, without necessarily sticking to one particular sound.
